How To Avoid The Perils of Christmas Debt
Dont get carried away by the lure of Christmas and end up in debt afterwards. Thats the message from the Credit Services Association the official body representing the UK debt collection industry.
It has released a seven point plan to help consumers avoid the pitfalls of debt over the festive period.
Kurt Obermaier, chief executive of the CSA, said: Like everybody else, we want everyone to have a wonderful Christmas, but time after time, people are seduced into getting themselves into unmanageable debt problems.
By following our guidelines and taking into account this simple advice, consumers can avoid debt and the associated stress of this festive season.
The seven guidelines are:
- Set a clear budget and stick to it.
- Make a list of presents and don't be tempted to buy more.
- Start saving now - it's never to late to tuck away the extra pennies.
- Don't be tempted by the numerous Buy Now Pay Later schemes offered by the major retailers.
- Offers which appear to be too good to be true invariably are.
- Make your decisions and stick to them - you'll appreciate the New Year if you do.
