Our first-ever Style Ball is supporting the Air Ambulance because you just never know if you or a member of your family will need to use the service. Currently the Hertfordshire Air Ambulance and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA) cover most of England. The crews work 12 hour shifts to make sure they can go to help sick and injured people during daylight hours. I did a shift with the WNAA and was taken aback by the amazing skills these people have. For them, working for the Air Ambulance is something they do as well as their main jobs. For many the financial rewards are not great but they do it because they want to do a worthwhile job and because they enjoy it. Hundreds of lives are saved and people given the chance to live due to the rapid medical response of the Air Ambulance. They save motorists in road accidents, people hurt on mountains and assault victims. The service receives no funding from the government or National Lottery and relies entirely on donations.
